Early scores lift Panthers past Pioneers, 2-0

Box Score HANOVER, Ind. - Hanover scored the game's first goal just five minutes into play Tuesday, then got another in the 21st minute and hung on for a 2-0 Heartland Conference women's soccer win over Transylvania.

The Pioneers, who saw their 10-match winning streak come to an end at the hands of Earlham on Saturday, fall to 11-3 on the year, 4-2 HCAC. Hanover remained a game behind Earlham in the league standings at 11-2-1, 5-1 HCAC.

The first goal came on a chip shot from the left of the six-yard box while the second score was resulted from a free kick from 20 yards out that caromed off the right post.

Transy had a 10-6 edge in shots while both teams were credited with two corner tries. Kara Hansel had no saves as the Panthers took just two shots on goal.

The Pioneers are back in action at home on Saturday, facing Franklin at 1 p.m. at Thomas Field. Both the men's and women's teams are observing Senior Day on Saturday and both contests will be played on the men's home surface.
