ANDERSON, Ind. - Six different Transylvania players found the goal Saturday and the Pioneers capped their regular season with a 7-0 win over Heartland Conference rival Anderson.
Transy, winning its third game in a row, improved to 14-3 on the season, 7-2 in HCAC play, while the Ravens are 3-14, 0-9 in league play.
The Pioneers finished third in the HCAC race and will travel to No. 2 Hanover on Wednesday for a 2 p.m. conference tournament semifinal match. No. 1 Earlham hosts Bluffton in the other semifinal. The winners meet Saturday at 1 p.m. at the site of the highest remaining seed.
Senior
Sammi Migliozzi, who scored her first goal of the year in Thursday's win over Mt. St. Joseph, added a pair of scores on Saturday. Other Transy goals were tallied by
Alyssa Kruse,
Natosha Boden,
Ashley Cobane, Amy Ghilbaudy, and
Abby Felthaus.
Kruse, a freshman, finished the season with a team-high 10 goals, one more than Ghibaudy.
Transy had a 14-1 edge in shots in the first half, which ended with the Pioneers on top, 4-0. Transy finished the game with 34 shots to four for the Ravens.
Kara Hansel had three saves in goal for the Pioneers.
Transy entered play in last year's HCAC tournament as the No. 2 seed, but defeated Earlham in the finals on the road to earn an NCAA Division III Tournament berth.
