TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Rose-Hulman won two of three doubles matches Saturday and hung on for a 5-4 women's tennis win over Transylvania.
The Engineers handed the Pioneers their first Heartland Conference loss of the season. Transy is now 4-1 overall, 3-1 in HCAC play. Rose-Hulman is 5-2, 3-1 HCAC. Franklin leads the HCAC standings with a 3-0 mark.
The teams split their six singles matches, with Transy getting wins from No. 1
Kelsey Fulkerson (Lexington, Ky., Dunbar), No. 2
Stephanie Townsend (Goshen, Ky., North Oldham), and No. 3
Kaitlyn Hizny (Owensboro, Ky., Daviess Co.). Fulkerson and Townsend also won at No. 1 doubles.
Andi Mong (Chillicothe, OH, Chillicothe) lost at No. 4 singles,
Victoria Haugli (London, England) at No. 5, and
Caroline Tapscott (Franklin, Tenn., Franklin) at No. 6.
Transy is back in action at home on Wednesday, facing Earlham at 4 p.m.
