LEXINGTON, Ky.—A trifecta of late goals by nationally ranked Emory University proved too much for the Transylvania University women's soccer team to overcome, as they fell 3-0 on Saturday.

The Eagles from Emory, who are ranked sixth in the most recent NCAA DIII coaches poll, scored three goals after the 80th minute to pull away after dominating on the offensive side of the ball all match. Melinda Altamore, Cristina Ramirez and Hannah Meyer each scored one goal.

From the beginning of the match, Transy struggled to curtail the offensive firepower from Emory. In the match, the Eagles took 38 shots and put 30 on goal. A strong match from Pioneer goalkeeper Morgan Potts kept the game respectable, recording 24 saves in the match. The last two Emory scores came on breakaways after slipping through the middle of the defense and capitalizing on one-on-one scoring opportunities against Potts.

For the Pioneers, they were only able to manage three shots in the match and one on target. Midfielder Felicia Houchins and forwards Jerrica Scovel and Alyssa Kruse each took a shot in the match, with Kruse's attempt being the lone attempt on goal.

With the loss, their third in a row, Transylvania falls to 2-6 on the season. The schedule does not get any easier for Transy as they travel #7 Thomas More on Monday and play rival Centre College on Wednesday.

The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference season opens next Saturday in a home match against Manchester.
