Box Score RICHMOND, Ind. --- Coming off a Homecoming weekend victory over Rose-Hulman, the Pioneers traveled to Earlham College looking to extend their HCAC winning streak to two games. Transylvania University offense was running on all cylinders as they took the victory winning over Earlham College, 5-1.
Striking first in the game, the Pioneers got on the board on a goal from Charlotte Pruet in the ninth minute. Not wasting any time, Maddie Sjogren followed up with a goal 11 minutes later, with Pruet getting the assist for an early 2-0 lead. The offense kept up the pressure with Lindsey Sizemore scored in the 23rd minute on an unassisted goal.
Coming out of the break saw 30 minutes of back-and-forth defense until the 75th minute when the Quakers scored to close the gap, bringing the score to 3-1. Responding to the score, the Pioneers turned up the pressure and the offense, netting two goals in the final four minutes of the game. Hunter Alexa Grace punched in her first goal of the season in the 86th minute on the assist from Sizemore. There would be an additional score before time expired with Morgan Janes picking up her second of the season with the assist coming from Erin Miller.
Pioneer defense was stingy only allowing two shots during the game with Ally Barfield picking up the win in goal. Not to be outdone during the game the offense put up 35 shots throughout the contest.
Head Coach Michael Fulton was pleased with the way his team played today, "We played well today. Our goal going in was to control the game and keep the game at a high tempo. I think we did very well with the game plan and get the results we deserved."
The Pioneers (4-6-2, HCAC 2-1-1) continues its road swing with a weekend contest at conference rival Defiance (1-11, HCAC 0-3) on Saturday, October 17th, Match time is set for 1 p.m.
