Transylvania outrallied by Colonels in Danville on Wednesday

Danville, Ky. – The Transylvania women's tennis team dueled with the Centre College Colonels Wednesday evening, coming up on the short end of a 6-3 result at the Centre tennis courts.

Transylvania dropped to 3-4 overall as it took a break in the midst of its Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference series to match up with Southern Athletic Association and neighborly rival Centre on Wednesday.

The Pioneers fell behind 2 to 1 in doubles play after yielding wins to Centre in the No. 1 and No. 2 matches. Transylvania grabbed a sizable 8-2 pro-set win in No. 3 doubles on the swings of sophomore Lucy Herrington and senior Kearstin Bruther.

Centre continued to hold down homecourt advantage, picking up wins in No. 1 through No. 4 singles. The Pioneers gained a win at No. 5 singles as Bruther seized a 6-4, 6-2 win against Emma Ramsey, while freshman Anna Burch picked up an identical 6-4, 6-2 victory versus Audrey Grace Hacker.

Transylvania returns to action on Sunday, October 1 at 12:00 p.m. as it hosts HCAC rival Franklin College at the Transylvania Tennis Complex.
