Box Score

Terre Haute, Ind. – The Transylvania men's soccer team wrapped up regular-season play with a 1-0 loss to the Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers on the road on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Pioneers' record falls to 10-7 overall and 7-2 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Pioneers complete their HCAC schedule one game back of both Hanover and Rose-Hulman to take the third seed in next week's HCAC Tournament.

The Engineers took over the game in the 68th minute when a long ball into the penalty area was headed into the Transylvania goal by Takezo Kelly, giving Rose-Hulman a 1-0 lead.

Caswell Fuller and Tyler Dobbs each recorded shots on goal over the waning moments of the match, but the Rose-Hulman defense held firm, allowing the Engineers to escape with the 1-0 victory.

Transylvania goalkeeper Drew Grisham tallied one save against one goal allowed in the Pioneers' loss on Saturday.

The evenly-matched affair witnessed Rose-Hulman outshoot Transylvania 5-4 while the Pioneers held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks awarded.

The two sides also combined for 11 fouls and four yellow cards in the heated matchup, which held tremendous postseason implications.

The Pioneers will now turn their attention to the HCAC Tournament, which begins on Wednesday, November 6. Transylvania, the No. 3 seed in the tournament, travels back to Rose-Hulman, who enters the postseason as the No. 2 seed at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
