TOURNAMENT HEADQUARTERS

Lexington, Ky. – The Transylvania volleyball team begins the fall 2021 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament at home on Wednesday, November 3 versus the Manchester University Spartans in the HCAC Quarterfinals at 7:00 p.m.

After forging a 7-2 record through HCAC play and a 20-12 overall record through the 2021 season, the Pioneers secured the No. 3 seed in this fall's HCAC Tournament, setting up a quarterfinal elimination contest against the No. 6 seed Spartans at the Beck Center.

The winner of Wednesday's quarterfinal advances to Richmond, Indiana for the weekend where No. 2 seed Mount St. Joseph University awaits the winner of Wednesday's match in a Saturday semifinal at 5:00 p.m.

The HCAC Tournament continues on Saturday, November 6 from the campus of No. 1 seed Earlham College, who hosts both semifinal matches and the ensuing championship match on Sunday afternoon.  Earlham, who captured the top seed with an 8-1 record in conference play and won the tiebreaker over Mount St. Joseph, which also finished 8-1, takes on Wednesday's quarterfinal winner between Hanover and Anderson in the other Saturday semifinal at 2:00 p.m.

Saturday's semifinal winners advance to the Sunday afternoon championship match, whose winner will be awarded the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

Transy enters the HCAC Tournament having won seven of its past eight matches, capped off by a five-set win against Denison in its nonconference finale on Saturday. The Pioneers enter their latest postseason looking to win their third consecutive tournament crown, this time attempting to complete the feat on the road for the first time in four seasons. The Pioneers won the spring 2021 championship over Mount St. Joseph in three sets, and won their first ever conference tournament title in fall 2019 over Earlham in a sweep at the Beck Center.

The quarterfinal matchup marks the second meeting of the fall 2021 season between Transylvania and Manchester. The teams last met less than two weeks ago in Lexington, with the Pioneers winning over the Spartans in a three-set sweep.

Tickets for Wednesday's 7:00 p.m. quarterfinal are $10 per person while those aged 11 and under are admitted for free. The game will also be broadcast live via the Transy Sports Network.
