Lexington, Ky. - Will Warner scored three goals to lead the Transylvania men's lacrosse team to an electric 12-11 victory over the Piedmont College Lions at Pat Deacon Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The win is the fourth straight for the Pioneers and moves their record to 5-1 overall while the Lions fall to 0-4 on the season.
T.J. Toivonen turned in a tremendous performance to anchor the Transylvania defense on Sunday. The senior caused three turnovers, collected eight ground balls, and scored a goal in the victory. With his first ground ball of the game, Toivonen reached the 300 career ground ball mark, becoming the first Pioneer to reach the milestone.

The Transylvania offense was firing on all cylinders in the first quarter as five different Pioneers scored to give Transylvania a 5-2 lead.
Despite the deficit, the Lions came roaring back with five goals of their own in the second quarter. With just seconds left on the clock, Trenton Sneed scored his first goal of the day to give Transylvania an 8-7 lead at the half.
Piedmont opened the third quarter with three straight goals to take a 10-8 lead over the Pioneers. Sneed and Andrew Hamill each scored in the period to keep the Pioneers within striking distance of the Lions.
Trailing the Lions 11-10 entering the fourth quarter, the Pioneers' defense held the Lions scoreless throughout the period while Warner tallied back-to-back goals to secure the 12-11 victory for Transylvania.
The Pioneers will return to action on Saturday, March 27, when they host the Elmhurst University Bluejays. Opening face-off between the Pioneers and the Bluejays is set for 11:00 a.m. at Pat Deacon Stadium.
