Decatur, Ill. - The Transylvania men's tennis team capped off its trip to Illinois with a 3-6 loss to the Millikin University Big Blue at the Fairview Park Tennis Complex on Sunday afternoon.
The loss drops Transylvania's record to 1-2 while the Big Blue move to 2-4 on the season.
Following a Transylvania default in the No. 1 doubles match, the duo of Noah McNamee and Nick McNamee cruised to an 8-3 win in the No. 2 match, while Jon-Michael Schulte and Jared Wells teamed to capture an 8-7 (7-4) in the No. 3 doubles contest.
The Pioneers' final victory came via Elijah Skaggs, who battled his way to a thrilling 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 win in the No. 4 singles match. However, Milikin won the final two matches to dispatch the Pioneers 6-3.
Up next, Pioneers will open Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play with a trip to Hanover, Indiana, for a matchup against the Hanover College Panthers on March 28. The match is set for a 4:00 p.m. start at the Zeddies Tennis Center.
