Box Score Nicholasville, Ky. – The Transylvania women's tennis team had a momentous day of plentiful action at the first day of the Transylvania Fall Invite at Top Seed Tennis Club on Saturday.
The Pioneers began their season with a singles session against the Asbury University Eagles where they dominated the opposition. Straight-set victories from
Porsche Robinson,
Jessica Burton,
Grace Gardner,
Katherine Taylor, and Alyssa
Igyarto resulted in a 5-1 record against the Eagles in the first session of the day.
After an afternoon respite, the Pioneers took on the Millikin University Big Blue in the fourth session of the day. Robinson and Taylor remained perfect on the day by quickly dispatching their opponents. However, the Big Blue won the remaining four matches to take 4 of 6 victories against the Pioneers.
As singles play concluded, the Pioneers shined in the doubles session to punctuate the night. After an 8-4 victory from the team of Robinson and Burton, tandem of Taylor and Gardner, and
Christina Duvall and
Igyarto rolled to 8-0 victories. The 3-1 doubles session capped off a successful start to the season for the Pioneers.
Freshman
Katherine Taylor and Robinson, the reigning Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year, highlighted Day 1 of the tournament by going a perfect 3-0 in their matches for the day.

The Pioneers are back at Top Seed Tennis Club tomorrow for Day 2 of the Transylvania Fall Invite. Action is scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM.
