Richmond, Ind. - The Transylvania Pioneers used yet another consistent defensive effort to close out their undefeated regular season 21-0 and to take home the crown of 2022 HCAC regular season champions. This is the first time since joining the NCAA that the Pioneers have finished the regular season undefeated. The 2014-15 Pioneer women's basketball team came close to that mark, only dropping one game during the regular season conference play.
Laken Ball led the way for the Pioneers in the first half with a commanding post presence. She was scorching in the first half, scoring 14 of her game high 17 points. Ball was also a force on the defensive end finishing the game with 4 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 blocks.
The second half showed a great team display on both sides of the ball and showed a variety of scorers getting into the action. Eleven total players helped the Pioneers get to their total of 69 points tonight.
The Pioneers are preparing to host Sunday, February 20th for the quarterfinals of the HCAC tournament against the 8th seeded Manchester University Spartans on Sunday, February 20 at 3 PM. Transylvania had one opportunity to play the Spartans this season. That game was played at the Clive M. Beck center and the Pioneers won the contest with a final score of 64-36.
