Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Transylvania men's tennis fall to Rose-Hulman in hard fought match on Saturday

Terre Haute, Ind. - On Saturday morning, the Transylvania men's tennis team took on the Rose Hulman Fightin' Engineers. The tennis matches were played at Rose-Hulman, in Terre Haute, Indiana. While Rose-Hulman took the victory overall, Transylvania still came away with some solid wins and performances.

The final score of the match was 6-3, but the three matches the Pioneers were able to come away with were hard fought matches and well earned wins. Nick McNamee & Elijah Skaggs played as the Pioneers number one doubles duo, as they played a tough and tightly contested match but eventually lost in extra sets to a score of 8-7. Although they lost the number one doubles match, the Transylvania men's tennis team were still able to find victories in number two and three doubles. Both matches were captured by a final score of 8-6, the duos of Jared Wells & Jacob Cooper and Hunter Gregg & Lane Thomas were exceptional on the court as they were bright spots for the Pios' on Saturday.

McNamee was able to find the lone victory for the Pioneers in singles play, as he took the number one singles victory in two sets with scores of 6-3 and 6-2. In number two doubles, Skaggs played hard and lost a very close match which went to three sets. The third set was as hard fought as it gets, as Skaggs just hardly fell short by a final score of 15-13.

The Pioneers are back for more inter-conference play as they take on fellow HCAC opponent Manchester University on Saturday, April 23rd at 11:00 AM on their home court of Top Seed Tennis Club in Nicholasville, Kentucky. This will be their final appearance before heading into conference tournament play, beginning May 6th.
