The 2022 ITA Division III Men's and Women's Academic Awards have been announced for both the men's and women's teams. Transylvania Pioneers from both our men's and women's teams are represented on the list.

From the men's team Ty Crabtree, Jack Dodds, Hunter Gregg, and Nick McNamee were named Division III Men's ITA Scholar-Athletes for having a 3.5 GPA or above for the academic year. As a team, Transylvania Men's Tennis held a 3.2 GPA or higher this academic year earning them ITA All-Academic Team honors as well.

"The top priority at Transy is education, and these four students have worked hard in the classroom. It's a tribute to their work habits and professors that they have received this honor," said Transylvania Men's Tennis Head Coach, Kevin Calhoun

Erin Biddle, Jessica Burton, Christina Duvall, Grace Gardner, Mallory Johnson, Abby Stamps, and Katherine Taylor were named Division III Women's ITA Scholar Athletes for 2022. They held a 3.5 or above GPA for the academic year for this honor. The team GPA also exceeded a 3.2 or above which earned the Transylvania Women's Tennis ITA All-Academic Team.

"I am extremely happy for the players on Transy's Women's Tennis Team for this well deserved recognition. One of my favorite things about Division III is the emphasis they place on academics while remaining highly competitive, and this team really embodies that. They have been hugely successful on the court, and are truly elite in the classroom. I am, as always, very impressed by their work ethic, and very grateful to work with such a group," said Head Coach Bill Carey of the team's accomplishments.

Vice President of Athletics, Dr. Holly Sheilley said of the teams, "I continue to be so proud of our student-athletes as they excel in the classroom. They show the true meaning of what a student-athlete should be."
