Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Second half goals push Transy past Rose Hulman

LEXINGTON - Transy Women's Soccer defeated Rose Hulman 2-0 to improve to 9-4-1 and 4-2-0 in HCAC competition on Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers used two second half goals to move on to third place with just three games left in the regular season.

The Pioneers overcame a slow first half start where they only put up one shot on goal, but recovered and controlled most of the second half. Transy broke the 0-0 tie with Lilia Steen earning her first goal of the season off an assist by Isabella White and Caitlin Fike. White was able to pass the ball off her chest to Steen who put a left footed shot past the goalkeeper to shift all momentum to Transy's side.

Jaimye Cottongim scored her first goal of the season with just under 11 minutes left in the match. She took a free kick from 30 yards out and shot it just over the goalie's head and into the net to give Transy to 2-0 lead.

Carrie Stevens earned the shutout, her second in the last three games. She stopped all five shots that she faced on the afternoon.

Transy moves past Rose Hulman in the HCAC standings with the win and has an opportunity to distance themselves from the middle of the conference with a win over Earlham College this Wednesday at 7 PM at Pat Deacon Stadium.
