LEXINGTON - The Transylvania Women's Soccer team defeated the Earlham College Quakers to move to 10-4-1 and 5-2 in HCAC play. The Pioneers scored two unanswered goals to complete the second half comeback and earn their 7th all time victory versus the Quakers. The win helped Transy remain in third place in the HCAC standings.
The Pioneers found themselves behind in the first half of this game, as the Quakers scored first in the 19th minute, breaking a 4 year goalless streak against the Pioneers. It was one of three shots the Quakers would get on the night
The second half was a different game for the Pioneers as they would flip the switch and make a 2 goal comeback, similar to their two goal second half game this past weekend. The Pioneers would score in the 67th minute as Tara Pund would strike a ball midair after receiving the lofted pass from Isabella White. This goal would be the 2nd for Pund and the 6th assist for White on the season, but White would end with 2 assists on the day after setting up the second goal for the Pioneers this game. In the 80th minute Ciana Araya would capitalize off the White pass to earn her 6th goal of the season, giving the Pioneers a 2-1 lead and the eventual win.
The win was a big one as Transy clinched at least a top four finish in the HCAC standings, an improvement from last season's finish as the five seed heading into the HCAC tournament.
Transy will take on Defiance College this Saturday at 1 PM as they fight for second place in the standings.
