DEFIANCE, Ohio. - Transy Men's Soccer tied Defiance College 1-1 on Saturday afternoon, giving them a much needed point as they make the final push for the HCAC postseason tournament.
With the tie, the Pioneers sit at 11 points in the HCAC standings in fourth place, ahead of Bluffton College and Defiance College with one game left. A win in their final match versus Franklin College will secure a tournament berth and a win will have Transy host the HCAC opening round match.
Defiance struck first, scoring just 9 minutes into the match. It was one of three shots on goal for the Yellow Jackets as the Pioneer defense stood strong the rest of the match to hold Defiance scoreless.
After aggressive attacking,
Dylan Barnes broke the shutout with his 5th goal of the month of October in the 51st minute to tie the match. Transy held the back line for the final 36 minutes, holding Defiance to just one shot. Transy outshot the Yellow Jackets 8-3 on the day.
Transy will go for the HCAC tournament berth against Franklin this Wednesday at 7 PM at Pat Deacon Stadium.
