Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer take first HCAC loss at Hanover

HANOVER, IN- The Transylvania Women's Soccer team (7-2-1) remained on the road Wednesday night as they Traveled to Hanover College in a battle of two of the HCAC's best. Both teams entered the match 2-0 in conference play.

The First Half

In the first half both Transy and Hanover played tough, fighting to give each other their first loss of the season. The Pioneers put the pressure on first with Benjamin and Heil taking the first shots for the Pioneers but not connecting as both teams would keep at each other, testing the defense.

In the 30th minute Hanover scored first as Transy failed to defend a Panther corner kick, putting the game 0-1. This however wouldn't deter the Pioneers however, with Ciana Araya tying the game with just under two minutes left in the half. Isabella White connected with Araya for the assist. Hanover and Transy went into the half tied.

The Second Half

In the second half Transy foiund themselves more on the defensive side, something the Pioneers haven't been on in the last few matches. The Pioneers would face 8 shots this half compared to Hanover's 3, as Sheridan Harrison was put to work, earning 4 saves in the match. Hanover got one past her, putting Transy down 1-2 in the 53rd minute. The Pioneers spent the rest of the half, stepping up the aggression in order to spark a comeback, but only to result in 2 yellow cards, both coming at the 80th minute marker. These fleeting attempts couldn't generate enough momentum for the Pioneers to score another, as this game broke a brief 3 game win streak, with the game ending 1-2.

Up next for the Pioneers is a return trip home, playing Anderson University October 8th at 1:30 PM. This will be a stand alone home game before going back on the road to face Mount St. Joseph University next week. The match vs the Ravens is also Senior Day.
