CINCINNATI, Ohio. - No. 17 Transylvania Volleyball suffered their first conference loss of the season, falling in four sets to No. 14 Mount St. Joseph. It's the first conference loss since the 2021 season and the first time this season Transy has lost a set.
The Pioneers dropped a close set one 23-25 before tying the match at a set a piece with a 25-20 set two win. MSJ took the third set 16-25 and the fourth set 23-25 to win the HCAC regular season title.
Three different Pioneers reached double digit kills.
Cate Scheper finished the match with a game high 15 kills.
Kayden Holcomb finished with 12 kills.
Suzanne Klosterman finished with 10 and
Isabella Myers finished with 9. Transy was outhit .161 to .171 on the night.
Jasmine Koonce had a season high 7 blocks on the night. Koonce finished with 3 kills and has 12 blocks in her last two matches.
Ava Beltsos finished with 24 digs.
Grace Ward became the first Pioneer in program history to reach 4,000 assists in a career. With her 28th assist in the match, she eclipsed 4,000. She ended the night with 44 to improve her career total to 4,016 heading into this Saturday's senior day matchup versus Manchester.
The senior day match is the final match of the regular season for Transy. A win will secure the 2 seed in the HCAC Postseason tournament in Cincinnati next week.
