CARMEL, Ind. - Transylvania Women's Basketball Fifth Year forward Dasia Thornton has been named Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the conference announced this afternoon. It's the first time this season a Transylvania Women's Basketball player has earned the honors.



Thornton had a milestone week. In the win over Wittenberg last Wednesday, Thornton earned her 750th career rebound. She finished the game with 8 points and 5 total rebounds. In the 65 point victory over Defiance College this past Saturday, Dasia eclipsed 1,000 career points with her 12th point of the game which came on a free throw.

Thornton currently averages 16.4 points per game and 8 rebounds per game.

"Dasia has had a great start to the season and especially good week. Her efforts were instrumental in getting four wins in eight days." Head Coach Juli Fulks said.

Dasia and the Pioneers continue their season this Wednesday on the road in Franklin, Indiana against Franklin College. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
