Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men's Lacrosse faced off against #10 ranked Denison in gritty competition

Our Pioneers traveled to #10th ranked Denison according to insidelacrosse.com in their toughest match of the season thus far. This game adds to the gauntlet our Men's lacrosse team has gone through this season as they ended up dropping this game 6-17 fighting the whole way.

The first half for the Pioneers started with Jackson Wilson making his first start of not just the season but his career in the cage tonight as Wilson's confidence has continued to grow this season. Jackson would go on to have a career day having new high's in the following categories; minutes at 55, ground balls with 4, shots faced at 58, and lastly a new career high in saves at 18. 18 saves is the most by a starting goalie since 3/26/2022 where Connor Haney had 20 against Ill Wesleyan then only happening once more all the way back in March of 2016 when Cooper Fogle had 18 saves of his own placing Wilson 3rd all time in single game saves in Pio history.

Offensively the Pioneers struggled to keep up with Denisons shooting as the Pioneers faced 2 preseason All-Americans on the defensive side. Dalton Hubbs got the Pioneers going as he continues his 20 game long streak of getting at least 1 goal in a game. Will Warner was next up taking advantage of the extra man opportunity to laser one before halftime giving the Pios 2.

The second half was full of a lot of fight from the Pioneers as they continued to fight the Denison defense with Hubbs netting his second goal of the day with a little under 6 minutes to go in the 3rd. In the 4th Luke Stetter joined in the scoring category making it his 7th of the season. This was before Dalton Hubbs would close out the scoring for Transy as he netted 2 more with under 5 to play allowing himself to end with 4 goals on the night. 6 out of the 9 games Transy has played this year Hubbs has had a hat trick in as he averages just under 3 goals a game sitting at 2.8.

After the defeat head coach Logan Otto had this to say: "We competed against one of the best teams in the country tonight. We never gave up and I am so excited for this team to attack Conference play with this same mentality."

The Pioneers will look ahead to their conference schedule as they face Carroll University April 7th at 8PM in Kenosha WI. These next couple of games will help the Pioneers navigate how they will shake out in their conference to determine the best course of action later in the season.
