Men's Lacrosse is away this weekend as they play in a back to back against Illinois Wesleyan then Augustana tomorrow. Illinois Wesleyan is the conference leader in the CCIW as they have been on a 6 game win streak while ranking 3rd in Region V, according to NCAA.com. The Pioneers continue conference play after losing to North Central last week placing them 2-1 in conference play. This game didn't end in the Pioneers favor as they would go on to lose 9-19.
The first half set the tone early as plenty of offense would be on display for both teams combining for 95 shots for the game in total. IWU would strike first as they would have 5 this quarter. Transy's first goal came from first-year student Casey Fagan, followed by a goal from senior Dalton Hubbs at the 7:26 mark.Â
This goal for Hubbs would be his 100th career goal! Dalton Hubbs with this goal not only reaches triple figures but is now 2nd in Pioneer leading in goals in a career. Edging out Clark Watts '17 was the program 2nd leader with 99 as he still has the most program shots with 394, Hubbs is now just 3 shy with 391.
The rest of the half would be summed up by Senior AJ Teague scoring himself scoring the Pioneers 3rd goal, followed by Ryan Geisler scoring the next two Pio goals after his assist to Fagan on the first goal. Geisler was assisted by Hubbs then Stetter on the Man Up. The half would end 5-9.
The second half would be much of the same for the Pioneers as IWU would prove to be too much. Faceoff play last game was a strength for the Pioneers and today that would continue despite the score. Transy would win 21 Faceoffs compared to IWU's 11 with Tucker Strode going 10-17 and Parker Rowland going 11-15.Â
Scoring wise Casey Fagan would earn another goal with 3:50 left in the game, followed by Tai Stormont scoring the next goal assisted by Dalton Hubbs. Fittingly Hubbs would score the final two goals for the Pioneers with the last one assisted by Alex Madson.
The Pioneers will look to bounce back against Augustana in their back to back, as they play tomorrow at 1PM while in Bloomington IL. For more information on Transylvania men's lacrosse, follow @Transy_Lax on Twitter.
