Tharp looks to throw from shallow left.


At University of Wisconsin-Whitewater for the NCAA Regional, #20 Transy Softball faced off with Coe College from the American Rivers Conference. The winner of the four teams at this regional will advance to the NCAA Super Regionals. 

After a scoreless first inning, the Pioneers put up four runs in the bottom of the second. Senior Carson Murray led off with a single down the right field line. With two outs, Ry'Ann Tharp reached base on error and moved Murray to second. Senior Abby Frazier sent an RBI single into left, scoring Murray for the 1-0 lead and advancing Tharp. Katie Mewes followed with a walk to load the bases. Senior Annie Shuck came to the plate and sent a double down the left field line to score all three base runners and make it 4-0. 

Coe scored one in the bottom of the fourth to make it 4-1, but the Pioneers added another in the top of the fifth. Schuck reached first on a fielding error, but was out at second on a fielder's choice by senior Taylor Senter. Junior HCAC Player of the Year Stella Wulker sent a double to left center to score Senter for the 5-1 lead. 

With a tie game after the sixth, the Pioneers went into extra innings. Coe's Marisa Vodicka hit a walkoff homerun just left of center, it looked as though Senter may have almost caught the ball in her glove as she stretched over the fence but wasn't able to rob the homerun. 

The Pioneers will play tomorrow at 2:30 against the loser of Wisconsin-Whitewater and Spalding.
