LEXINGTON - Transylvania Cross Country and Track and Field Head Coach Matt Andrews has announced Bryce Favors-Charleston as the new Assistant Coach for Track and Field.
"We're very excited to add Bryce to the staff and have him get started with our group. I think Bryce really gels with what our program is trying to accomplish and will add a ton to the experience and growth of our athletes." Coach Andrews said of his new assistant.
Favors-Charleston most previously was the Track and Field Jumps Coach at Lexington Catholic High School in 2023 where he'd help develop and implement training programs for student athletes in the long jump, triple jump, and high jump event to improve athlete's performance with proper jumping techniques.
Bryce attended Eastern Kentucky University where he earned his Bachelors of Business Administration and his master's degree in Sports Administration. He was a four year member of the Track and Field team where he was a 2019 Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Outdoor Track and Field Medalist as well as 2019 Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Track and Field Champion. During his senior season he was an Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) Outdoor Medalist.
While as a graduate student at EKU, he was named 2022-23 Outstanding Graduate Assistant and Graduate Student of the Year while working within the EKU athletic department.
"It feels great to be on staff and get the opportunity to coach in the collegiate level. I'm grateful to be apart of the program and to help build the Track and Field program and team." Favors-Charleston said.
Bryce is looking forward to helping the Pioneers improve this upcoming season.
"What I look forward to doing with the program as the season gets close is to be able to get to know and work with each of the athletes and prepare for the season so it can be full of personal records and good memories. I really look forward to building and training each individual athlete and creating things to help each individual athlete."
The Pioneers will kick up their 2024 campaign at the Rod McCravy Memorial at the University of Kentucky on Friday January 12th.
