BUENA VISTA, Va. - Transy Field Hockey exploded for seven goals, with three coming from
Sidney Aldridge for her first hat trick of the season in the 7-0 lopsided shutout of Southern Virginia University.
The Pioneers dominated the entire game, putting up twenty-three shots to the Knights one.
Libby Bringard earned her third shutout of the season, having an easy afternoon in goal while the offense poured it on Southern Virginia all game.
Gracie Bowling got the scoring started for Transy, scoring the first goal of the game in the second quarter off an assist by
Sidney Aldridge. Bowling would finish the game with two goals and an assist.
Aldridge had a career game, finishing with a hat-trick and three assists, putting up nine points on the afternoon, a career high in all three categories. Aldridge's first goal came at 10:08 in the third quarter, then scored again two minutes later and would earn the hat trick in the fourth quarter.
Maddy Morgan made it 5-0 Pioneers in the third quarter, scoring off a pass by
Gracie Bowling. It was Morgan's second goal of the season and first since the season opener vs Elms College.
Maddi Slaughter assisted Aldridge's final goal, earning her first assist of the season.
Catherine Harney scored the seventh and final goal for Transy on the afternoon, putting her second goal of the season into the back of the cage off an assist by
Sidney Aldridge at the 9:53 mark in the fourth quarter to give Transy its largest victory of the season.
"Everyone contributed on the field," Head Coach Natalie Hernandez said. "Our work in practice paid off with seven goals and
Sidney Aldridge with a hat trick in goals and assists and Gracie with two goals. Catherine finished with a goal and
Maddy Morgan with one goal. This was a huge team win."
The win moves Transy to 3-3 on the season and they'll have a chance to improve to 4-3 with a win tomorrow at Eastern Mennonite University with a game time start of 12 PM.
