WHITEWATER, Wi. - #16 Transy Volleyball competed in Whitewater, Wisconsin this weekend for the Wisconsin-Whitewater Invitational in what was their toughest stretch of their schedule this season. The Pioneers saw four top-ten opponents over a two day span.
Transy faced #3 Wisconsin-Oshkosh and #10 Wisconsin-Whitewater on Friday before finishing the weekend facing #7 Washington University in St. Louis and #6 University of Northwestern (MN).
The Pioneers were swept in game one by the undefeated Wisconsin-Oshkosh Titans and defeated by Wisconsin-Whitewater in four sets, but were neck and neck with their opponents in both matches.
Transy lost the first and second set to the Titans by just two points, and were tied with Whitewater after two sets of play before dropping the final two. The Titans came out on top 25-27, 23-25, and 16-25 and the Pioneers fell to Whitewater 24-26, 26-24, 15-25 and 21-25.
Transy began there Saturday morning with one of its biggest wins in program history, taking down #7 WashU in straight sets to earn its first victory of the tournament and second ever program win over the Bears. It was just WashU 3rd loss of the season.

Kayden Holcomb (10), and
Suzanne Klosterman (9) led Transy in kills in the win. Holcomb and
Isabella Myers finished with 3 blocks each.
Ava Beltsos and
Grace Ward finished with 11 digs each.
The Pioneers kept themselves distanced from WashU the entire match, winning 25-20, 25 -19, and 25-20. Its second straight year Transy has swept the Bears.
The Pioneers wrapped up the tournament with the University of Northwestern Minnesota. Transy dropped set one 20-25 before losing a close set two 22-25 and just barely losing the final set 24-26.
The Pioneers finished their toughest weekend of the season 1-3 with one of their biggest wins versus a top 10 opponent. It was the first top 25 win of the season for Transy and their highest win vs a nationally ranked opponent since beating #5 Emory last season in the NCAA tournament.
Senior
Suzanne Klosterman was named to the All-Tournament team after the conclusion of Saturday's matches. She had a season high 17 kills vs Wisconsin Whitewater. She averaged 12.3 kills throughout the tournament.
Transy moves to 8-5 on the season and will continue their road stand when they compete in the OAC/HCAC Challenge next week vs Otterbein University and Ohio Northern University.
