TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The No. 2 ranked Pioneers defeated Rose-Hulman 56-42 behind a 22 point performance from
Kennedi Stacy and a season high 15 points from
Sadie Wurth. The Pioneers remain undefeated at 15-0 and improve to 8-0 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference. Six different Pioneers scored in the win
With the win, Transy earned their 48th consecutive win, passing UCONN's 47 game win streak set in the 2013-2015 seasons. The Pioneers are now one win away from tying North Dakota State's 49 game win streak set in the 1994-1995 seasons when they were NCAA DII.
Similar to their last game, Transylvania's offense scored 14 points in the first quarter, led by Stacy who hit a pair off three's to get the offense going. Transy took off in the second quarter, using a 20-3 run to make it a 34-14 game with under 2:15 to play on the half. The Fightin' Engineers scored 7 unanswered to end the half and bring Pioneer lead to 13.
Transylvania out-shot Rose-Hulman 50%-33.36% in the second quarter.
Rose-Hulman opened the second half on a 9-4 scoring run to draw the game within 6 points, but Transy outscored the Fightin' Engineers 18-10 the rest of the way after holding RHIT to a game low 9 points in the fourth quarter.
Dasia Thornton finished the game with 10 points and 12 rebounds to earn her fifth double-double of the season, and her first since December 30th versus Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
The win is
Juli Fulks's 384th career victory. The Pioneers have now won the last 9 games over RHIT, and lead the series 26-13.
Transy will look to remain perfect on the season and in the HCAC when they take on Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati next Wednesday at 7 PM.
