FRANKLIN, IN - Transylvania University continued their strong start to HCAC competition, defeating Franklin College 3-0 on Saturday. It is their fourth straight victory and their third straight in HCAC play.Â
Transy opened with a competitive 25-20 victory, featuring 17 kills and hitting 0.438 in the opening set win.
Cecilia Roberts would open with the first point of the set, the first of her nine kills on the afternoon.
Cate Scheper and
Addie Atcher would have strong offensive performances in the first set, with Scheper scoring five of her team leading ten kills in the opening set. Atcher would land six in the opening set, including the set deciding point, 25-20. Transy would continue their run into the second set, defeating Franklin 25-11 before closing the match with a 25-12 final set victory. The Pioneers landed 16 kills in the final set, hitting 0.424. Overall, Transy hit .402 as a team in the 3-0 win.Â
"Another great team effort today," said Head Coach Amy Barmore. "We hit .402 as a team, added ten blocks, ten aces and 38 digs."
Grace Ward led Transy with four aces,
Mason Morrow and Alex O' Connor each landed two.
Ava Beltsos led the team in digs, producing 11 of the team's 38 on the afternoon.Â
"Cate led us with ten kills on zero errors, hitting a .529. Cecilia added nine kills on zero errors hitting a .818, she also added six block assists, a career high," said Barmore. "Kayden added eight kills with zero errors hitting a .667. All of our hitters stepped up today and we connected on all cylinders. We have a big week coming up and we are ready to prepare."
Transy continues HCAC competition this week, hosting Mount St. Joseph at the Clive M. Beck Center on Wednesday, October 23rd at 7 p.m.
