NORTH MANCHESTER, IN - Transylvania University picked up another HCAC victory on Saturday, defeating Manchester 3-0. The win gives the Pioneers their ninth straight victory, and their seventh within the HCAC.Â
The first set would see both teams exchanging short runs with Transy maintaining the lead. Manchester would rally to even the score at 15-15 before the Pioneers would rally a five point sequence to take their largest lead of the set. Manchester responded with three consecutive points, but an ace from
Ava Beltsos and three kills from
Cate Scheper in the final possessions of the set would secure the win, 25-19.Â
Despite an early lead from Manchester to open the second set, Transy would rally to retake the advantage, 15-11. Manchester responded to tie at 19-19 before a kill from
Addie Atcher and a block from
Kayden Holcomb helped the Pioneers regain control.
Cate Scheper would close the set with two kills, giving Transy a 25-21 win. In the final set the Pioneers would open with their offense clicking, building an 11-6 lead. Two kills from Atcher and a kill from Holcomb would be the difference maker, as Transy would close the final set at 25-19.Â
"Huge performance from our team today," said Head Coach Amy Barmore. "I am super proud of what we are putting together. We are working on the small things that make us elite.
Cate Scheper led us today with 13 kills, hitting a .321. Addie gave us 11 kills hitting a .350 and Cecilia added five kills on zero errors hitting a .714. Grace added 36 assists averaging 12 assists per set. I am happy with how we adjusted on the block and finished with eight team blocks. We get better each set and will continue to stay focused until the end."
Up next for Transylvania is a road matchup with Hanover on Wednesday, November 6th at 7 p.m. The Pioneers will return to the Clive M. Beck Center to close the regular season on Saturday, November 9th, hosting Berea College.Â
