LEXINGTON - The no. 2 ranked Transylvania Pioneers defeated Bluffton University 73-50 behind a career day from senior Sydney Wright. With the win, Transylvania remains unbeaten and earns the season series win over the Beavers.

The Pioneers extended the NCAA's longest active win streak to 55 games, and are now just three straight wins away from tying DePauw's 58 game win streak set between 2012-2014.

Transylvania continued to dominate the opening quarter, holding Bluffton to just 5 points while scoring 23. The Pioneer defense has given up just 7 total first quarter points in their last two games. TU extended their lead to 23 points (33-13) with 4:20 left in the quarter, and took a 22 point lead into the half (41-19). The Pioneers  took advantage of 15 offensive rebounds, with 10 of those coming in the first half that resulted in 24 second chance points.

The Beavers made things interesting in the third. Down 22 to begin the second half, Bluffton cut the deficit down to 12 points after an 18-8 run. The momentum quickly changed back to the Pioneers after a 6-2 run to end the third quarter. The 6-2 run to end the third turned into a 12-2 run after Sadie Wurth hit back to back three point shots to extend the lead to 19 to start the fourth. Wurth finished the game with 9 points, all coming from three point range.

Transy would win the game 73-50 and improve to 22-0, 15-0 after scoring 18 points in the fourth and holding the Beavers to 8 points.

Wright would finish the game with a career high 24 points to lead all scorers on the floor and would finish just 2 rebounds shy of a double-double. Dasia Thornton finished with 14 points and was 8 for 8 from the free throw line. Laken Ball added 10 points and a block.

Transylvania is now 19-5 all time against Bluffton and are winners of their last 8 over the Beavers.

Head Coach Juli Fulks earned her 391st career coaching victory.

Up next: Transylvania faces Manchester this Saturday at 1 PM. It will be senior day for seniors Kennedy Harris and Sydney Wright.
