Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men's Lacrosse earn first road win of the season at Albion 15-9

Albion, MI- The Transylvania Men's Lacrosse team was on the road in their middle of the week game, traveling to Michigan to play Albion College. The Pioneers pivoted from their last game against Rhodes which was dropped in a hard fought battle, only to use that experience to dominate Albion 15-9 today. This moves the Pioneers to 3-4 on the season and makes the program record against Albion 3-1 with Transy getting the best of their last matchup.

Sensing this as a crucial away game, Head coach Logan Otto said: "Every opportunity you get to play a team that is battle tested and is consistently one of the best in the Midwest is a great chance to build. Albion always plays tough and can beat anyone. It was great to see our team respond to their punches and make critical plays."

This game was dominated by the HCLC Defensive Athlete of the Week, Josh Harney, continuing to impress in his freshman year. Harney would be effective offensively, leading all scoring with 4 goals on 5 shots and 2 caused turnovers, earning himself a new career high in goals. The Pioneers got the game started with a quick 6-0 lead in the first quarter as they would use this buffer to work through Albion's attempts at a comeback.

Offensively the Pioneers were clicking as 4 players outside of Harney had multiple goals, first being Andrew Welch having 2 goals following his previous 3 goal game. Casey Fagan would have an all around good day, earning 2 goals and 1 assist, and Ryan Geisler would have 2 goals and an assist to give him a new season high in goals. Alex Madson would play excellent on both sides of the ball earning 2 goals, 1 assist, 1 ground ball, and 1 caused turnover.

Defensively Ben Pund would have himself an effective day, saving 13 shots, one short of his career high. Pund would be the catalyst on clears where the Pioneers totaled 20-25 successful clears, and went 100% in the second half, clearing. The Face off x was a stalemate with both teams winning 14 as Briggs Beck would total 11 of the 14.

Otto would add: "The process is what's most important and this result is certainly one we are excited about. We are excited to get that first away win."

The Pioneers will have a lengthy home stretch as they will finish Spring Break with a home game Saturday March 16th, at 1PM where they will take on Capital University.
