NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - Transylvania Baseball moved to 15-5 overall and 2-2 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference after splitting with Manchester on Sunday afternoon.
Game 1: Transy 12, Manchester 7
Trent Youngblood broke his second record of the weekend. After scoring three times in the 12-7 win in game one, Youngblood became the program's all time leader in runs with 165. He now holds the doubles record, walks record, total bases record, stolen bases record, and runs record. He is now 5 hits away from the all time hits record at Transy. He finished the game 2-4 with a double and a home run.
The Pioneer offense put together eight hits while scoring twelve runs for the win. Five different Pioneers earned hits.
After two run fifth inning that put the Spartans ahead 4-2, Transy scored the next ten runs in the sixth and eighth innings.
Calvin Schubert brought in a run on a sacrifice fly, then back to back walks gave Transy a 5-4 lead.
Walter Munday hit a bases loaded double to bring in three RBI's and extend the lead to 8-4.
Munday would earn his fourth RBI of the game with a single up the middle to make it 9-4.
Caleb Bowers would bring in a pair on an RBI single, and an error later in the inning would score
Warren Wilson to make it 12-4 Transy.
After scoring three runs in the eighth,
Gabe Dillard would shut out the Spartans in the ninth to secure the game one win.
Henry Craig moved to 3-0 on the season after giving up just one hit over three innings.
Camryn Warfield pitched five innings in relief and struck out five batters.
Munday led the Pioneers with 4 RBI's.
Game 2: Transy 2, Manchester 4
Drew Bowles went seven strong innings, striking out four batters and allowing just one earned run in the loss.
Trent Pahl put the Pioneers on the board in the third inning with double to left center that brought in a pair of runs. Manchester tied the game at 2-2 on an error and a passed ball.
The Pioneers struggled to plate another run as Manchester's Jackson Todor allowed just two runs and six hits while throwing a complete game.
Chase Gartner led the Pioneers in game two with two hits in four at bats.
Up next: Transylvania will face Rose-Hulman in a three game series beginning this Friday at 7 PM. They'll close out the series with a doubleheader on Saturday.
