GAMBIER, OHIO - Transylvania University ran out of time in a hard fought battle against Kenyon College on Sunday, falling 0-1.

Kenyon would open the first half with an early goal from Grace Lane at the 1:09 mark of the first period.

Despite the early score from Kenyon, the Pioneer defense would shine in the first half. Libby Bringard would have an incredible performance defending the goal for Transy, including four saves in the second period. Kenyon's Grace Lane would have another scoring opportunity in the second, taking a penalty stroke at 04:05, but was saved by Bringard.

In the second half, Transy would find four shot opportunities that missed the mark. Avery Hoover's shot early in the third period would land wide, while Lucy Cohen's shot with seconds remaining in the period would miss the target. Bringard would successfully deflect another attempt on goal by Grace Lane in the third, while Kenyon's Maren Lawrence would have her shot attempt blocked. Maddy Morgan would find a scoring opportunity early in the final period, but Kenyon's Megan Lydon would deflect for the save. Transy would find another scoring opportunity late in the fourth, with Caroline Seaward's shot landing wide with less than five seconds remaining in the final period.

Bringard's penalty stroke save was the highlight of a tremendous defensive effort Sunday afternoon, she would finish with six saves, playing the full 60:00.

Head Coach Natalie Hernandez was proud of her team's performance and looks forward to seeing how the team will evolve as the season progresses.

"We played hard today but we just weren't able to finish," said Hernandez. "We dominated a majority of the possessions, which was great to see against a great team like Kenyon, who finished at the top of the conference. Our team is figuring things out, I am excited to see what we are truly capable of."

Up next for the Pioneers is a trip to Meadville, Pennsylvania to take on NCAC conference opponent Allegheny College on Saturday, September 28th at noon.
