Transylvania Defeats Hanover In HCAC Victory

LEXINGTON, KY - Transylvania earned another Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) victory on Wednesday, defeating Hanover 3-0 at the Clive M. Beck Center. 

The Pioneers were impressive with their early offense in the first set, as Alex O' Connor opened the first serve with an ace. A kill from Cecelia Roberts and an ace from Julia Brown followed as Transylvania began to build their lead. Transylvania went on a 7-1 run with two kills from Isabella Myers and two from Peyton Mast, and a kill from Addison Jarvis to give the Pioneers a 13-7 advantage. Transylvania would continue to extend their lead and hold off rallies from the Panthers, a kill from Roberts and a Panther attack error closed the first set with a 25-16 Pioneer win. Hanover rallied at the start of the second set, taking a 10-7 advantage over the Pioneers, but Transylvania would respond with a run of their own, building a 17-12 lead. Set two would close in similar fashion to set one, with a Transylvania kill, this time from Jarvis, and an attack error from the Panthers, giving the Pioneers a second set win at 25-19. In the third set, both teams exchanged points until the Pioneers built a 13-9 lead from a kill by Myers and a kill from Lilly Kaiser. Transylvania would maintain their advantage, finishing the third set 25-15, and earning the HCAC victory at 3-0. 

Isabella Myers led the Pioneers with 13 kills, followed by eight from Lilly Kaiser and six from Peyton Mast. Macy Lentz recorded 28 assists while Julia Brown added 15 digs in the victory. 

Transylvania (19-6), returns to action on Saturday, November 1st in a road match up at Bluffton.
