CARMEL, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) women's basketball teams competed in week one of the 2025-26 season.
Athlete of the Week:
Riley Flynn (Remington, Ind.) Transylvania University | Guard | Junior - In a season opening 62-52 win at DePauw,
Riley Flinn led the Pioneers with a 21 point, 16 rebound double double. She was 6-11 from the field, including scoring three three-point field goals, one of which came in the final minute of the fourth quarter to put Transylvania ahead by six, after entering the quarter trailing by five.
Notable Performances:
- Lacie Fenstermaker (Pandora, Ohio) Bluffton University | Forward | Senior - Fenstermaker stuffed the stat sheet with her sixth career double-double in a 77-75 win over Olivet on Friday night. She scored 14 on 5-of-11 shooting with one three-pointer. Fenstermaker finished with 13 rebounds, four assists and two steals.
- Erica Buening (Franklin, Ind.) Franklin College | Guard/Forward | Sophomore - Buening came off the bench to lead the Grizzlies with 15 points and six rebounds (three offensive) in just 18 minutes of a season-opening 85-26 rout of Concordia. The sophomore shot 5 of 8 from the floor, 5 of 6 from the line and also had three of the team's 17 steals.
- Kaitlyn Lorenzi (Brentwood, Tenn.) Hanover College | Guard/Forward | Senior - Lorenzi led the Panthers to a 2-0 week as they defeated the University of the Ozark and Rhodes. The senior averaged a double-double on the week, netting 31 points and pulling down 27 rebounds. In the contest with Ozark, she had 16 points and 15 boards, following it up the next day with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
- Abigail Rosenkrans (Pendleton, Ind.) Manchester University | Guard | Senior - Abigail Rosenkrans led the charge for Manchester this past weekend as the Spartans went 1-1 in the Teammates for Life Tournament. Rosenkrans put up 29 points on an efficient 13-17 and 3-3 from deep. Additionally, Rosenkrans battled on the defensive side as well, pulling down five rebounds and six steals.
- Morgan Jenkins (Erlanger, Ky.) Mount St. Joseph University | Wing | Senior - Lions senior wing Morgan Jenkins was a stat sheet stuffer in the Lions season opening game at Capital. She registered and 11 point - 11 rebound double-double. Doing so while dishing out 2 assists, registering 2 blocks and 3 steals.
- Katelyn Fennell (Terre Haute, Ind.) Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology | Guard | Sophomore - Katelyn Fennell earned All-Tournament Team at the MSOE Tournament this past weekend. Rose-Hulman dropped both games of the tournament to Case Western Reserve and the Milwaukee School of Engineering to start the 2025-26 season. Fennell totaled 19 points and 16 rebounds, averaging 9.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. Fennell also totaled five assists and a team-high field goal percentage of .375 across both games.
