Pioneers Defeat Spalding To Close Gratz Park Private Wealth Holiday Classic

LEXINGTON, KY - Transylvania Women's Basketball beat Spalding by an 80-50 margin in the Clive M. Beck Center in the championship game of the Gratz Park Private Wealth Holiday Tournament.
 
Transylvania had four players score in double figures with Riley Flinn leading the Pioneers with 15 points. Sierra Kemelgor was the leading rebounder for the Pioneers with six rebounds while dishing out four assists.
 
Transylvania held a slim 10-6 edge going into the first timeout of the game with 5:00 minutes left in the first quarter. The Pioneers started to pull away late in the first quarter with a 16-6 lead. The Pioneers were still leading after the first quarter 23-10. Riley Flinn was the leading scorer for the Pioneers in the first quarter with eight points.
 
The Pioneers had a 31-17 edge with less than six minutes left in the first half. The Pioneers expanded their lead to 20 points with 2:45 minutes left in the first half. The Pioneers hold a 49-25 edge at halftime. Riley Flinn was the leading scorer for the Pioneers in the first half with 12 points. The Pioneers shot 54.8 percent from the floor while shooting 52.6 percent from beyond the arc.
 
The Pioneers came out of halftime with the same focus expanding their lead to 60-29 going into the first timeout of the second half. The Pioneers expanded their lead by 32 points with 1:20 minutes left in the third quarter. At the end of three quarters, the Pioneers were leading 65-35.
 
The Pioneers hold a 73-41 edge with five minutes left in the game. The Pioneers won 80-50 and now 9-2 in the season. The Pioneers shot 45.9 percent from the floor while 37.9 percent from beyond the arc.
