SWARTHMORE,PA - The Transylvania Pioneers traveled north to start the 2025 season, with the opening match coming against Swarthmore College on Friday night. 

The Pioneers came out of the gates hot, earning a quick corner kick in the seventh minute. Transylvania goalie, Carrie Stevens, made two big saves in the following minutes. After a sequence of substitutions by the Pioneers, Swarthmore's attack earned back to back corner kicks. Stevens kept the score 0-0, making three more saves as the first half winded down. Swarthmore's Celia Kanellakos found the back of the net minutes before the whistle. 

Swarthmore continued to apply pressure in the second half with a series of corners and shots saved by Stevens, leading to a Swarthmore goal. The home team struck again in the 64th minute, making the score 3-0. The Transylvania defense continued to stand tall throughout the remaining minutes of the second half. 

Transylvania looks onward and will face off against Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania. The match is set for Sunday, August 31st with kickoff at 12 PM. Live stats and video will be available on transysports.com
