Eva Blanke scored two goals for the Pioneers to lift Transylvania over Bluffton 2-0.Â
Blanke scored her first goal of the afternoon in the first half, assisted by Kayla Herman, at the 34:47 mark, to give the Pioneers the lead heading into the halftime break. She would score again for Transylvania in the second half, assisted by
McKenna Johnson, at the 49:11 mark. Transylvania was aggressive with seeking scoring opportunities, taking 19 shots to Bluffton's five.
Carrie Stevens recorded three saves in the win, defending the goal for the full 90 minutes for the Pioneers.Â
Senior
Isabella White led the team with five shots, three on goal. Blanke also took five shots, while
Ellie Held,
McKenna Johnson,
Gracie Carrigan,
Shelby Eidson,
Gabrielle Pitsic and Oliva Thomas all found shot opportunities in the victory.Â
"We just took what coach said and worked together, in the second half it really picked up and we're looking forward to what's next," said Blanke after the game.Â
The victory marked the first win at Transylvania for Head Coach Trip Rogers.Â
"We're just taking it one day at a time," Rogers said. "We're looking forward to getting back in the lab and continuing to work for what's next."
The Pioneers celebrated the Class of 2025 before the game, recognizing
Isabella White and
Jaimye Cottongim at midfield. Transylvania returns to action on Tuesday, September 30th, traveling to Spalding for a 7:00 p.m. match up.Â
