The Pioneers were back at the Norton Center in Louisville, KY this Friday for the PNC Bellarmine Classic. Catapulting off their well run season opener last weekend, the Pioneers put up lots of good marks and executed at a high level. This included three new school records and multiple heat wins. Some highlights include:

• Olivia Sparks ran extremely well, breaking the Transylvania school record and the HCAC Indoor record in both the 200m and 400m. Across 200m, she ran 25.54 and a 57.72 in the 400m.

• Hayden Scott had another great performance, winning the meet in shotput with a mark of 12.30m, a PB for him. He also had a PB in weight, throwing 12.28m.

• Libby Perkins ran a fantastic mile, putting up a PB of 15 seconds, running a 5:40.52. 

• Ella Detjen broke the school record in the mile for her first ever collegiate indoor track race, running 5:23.81. 

• Xander Harris had an indoor PB in the 800m, running 2:00.45 and winning his heat, leading the pack from start to finish.

• Hannah Cox had an excellent 400m race, running a PB for indoor and outdoor of 1:02.07. 
  
  
   Head Coach Matt Andrews was asked how he feels this meet went for the team.
  
  "We had a really well rounded day with a lot of positives. I was really pleased with the steps forward we had today coming off a solid opener last weekend."
