LEXINGTON, KY — Transylvania split competition this weekend, with part of the squad traveling to Cleveland, Tennessee to compete at the Lee Fast Break Athletics Invitational on Friday, while the remainder of the team competed in Alexandria, KY at the Norse Invitational on Saturday.

The Pioneers performed well at both locations, continuing to improve personal bests while preparing for the final two weeks of the outdoor season.

Ella Detjen highlighted the weekend by breaking her own school record in the 5000m, running a 28-second personal best with a time of 17:08.09. The mark ranks fourth all-time in the HCAC and 24th nationally.

Libby Perkins and Kaycee Moore each recorded personal bests in the 1500m at Friday's meet. Perkins improved her previous best by 10 seconds with a time of 5:11.45, while Moore shaved two seconds off her time, finishing in 4:54.63.

Hayden Veach and Nate Rogers both turned in strong performances in the Munninghof Mile on Saturday. Veach posted a 14-second personal best with a time of 5:00.38, while Rogers clocked a personal best of 4:48.14.

Hannah Cox ran a 26.68 in the 200m, which currently ranks sixth in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Peyton Tan recorded a personal best in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:12.20.

In the field events, Corbin Loster and Hayden Scott each set personal bests. Loster recorded marks of 9.88m in the shot put and 33.30m in the discus, while Scott threw 39.02m in the discus.

Following the weekend, Head Coach Matt Andrews reflected on the team's performance.

"We had a spectacular Friday night in Tennessee, aided by our athletes' ability to rise to strong competition. Saturday at NKU was more of a mixed bag, but the squad remains in a solid position heading into the conference championships in two weeks."

Transylvania returns to action next weekend at the Centre Twilight meet in Danville, KY to wrap up the regular season.
