LEXINGTON, Ky. — Transylvania University field hockey fell 3-0 to Kenyon on Saturday at Pat Deacon Stadium. The result moved the Pioneers to 0-7 overall and 0-5 in conference play.
Kenyon opened the scoring at the 5:46 mark when Gigi Johnson found the back of the net to give the Owls a 1-0 advantage. Transylvania generated opportunities of its own in the opening period, with Hannah Waterson and Avery Hoover each putting shots on goal.
Kenyon extended its lead in the second quarter, scoring on a penalty stroke at 20:23 before Johnson added her second goal of the afternoon at 25:02 to make it 3-0 entering halftime.
The Pioneer defense held Kenyon scoreless throughout the second half. Graci Adcock played all 60 minutes in goal and finished with seven saves, including four after halftime.
Transylvania finished with three shots, putting two on goal. The Pioneers generated seven penalty corners compared to six for Kenyon, including four opportunities in the second half.
Transylvania returns to Pat Deacon Stadium tomorrow, Sunday, October 4, hosting Wooster at noon.
