This weekend, Transylvania split competition between the Music City Challenge on Friday in Nashville, Tennessee, and the Centre Indoor Invitational on Saturday in Danville, Kentucky. With two weeks remaining before the HCAC Championships, both meets provided valuable racing opportunities and continued development as the Pioneers prepare for postseason competition.

Ella Detjen delivered one of the top performances of the weekend, breaking the Transylvania school record in the 5000m by more than 80 seconds at Vanderbilt. She crossed the line in 17:39.46, a mark that ranks third all-time in HCAC history and currently sits 37th nationally.

Hannah Cox posted a strong showing in the 400m, clocking 1:01.68 — a time that currently ranks fifth in the conference.

In the throws, Corbin Loster recorded personal bests in both the weight throw and shot put, marking 9.82 meters in the weight and 9.78 meters in the shot.

Ellie Thornsbury turned in a gritty performance in the 3000m, leading much of the race and finishing with a personal-best time of 11:29.45 despite challenging conditions.

On the men's side, Xander Harris continued his strong indoor campaign with a five-second personal best in the mile, running 4:43.04.

Head Coach Matt Andrews reflected on the weekend, saying, "Not our best weekend of competing but I think this can serve as an important reminder for our team that great results aren't always straightforward. Looking forward to seeing how our group responds and adapts as we get closer to championship season."

The Pioneers return to action next week at Wittenberg University for the Wittenberg Invite as they continue preparations for the HCAC Championships.
