LEXINGTON, KY — Transylvania capped the regular season with a 73–60 victory over Hanover in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play inside the Clive M. Beck Center.
Luke Idlett led the Pioneers with 20 points, while Drew Marshall recorded a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. Cayden Lancaster added 12 points, Ian Reesor finished with 13, and Dakota Capps dished out 11 assists to pace the Transylvania offense.
The game opened tightly, with Hanover holding an 8–5 advantage at the first timeout. Lancaster connected on a three-pointer at the 12:29 mark to tie the contest at 8–8. After Hanover led 13–10 midway through the half, Jaxon Smith knocked down a three-pointer to even the score at 13. Transylvania then seized control behind back-to-back three-pointers from Idlett to take a 19–15 lead. Marshall extended the margin to seven with a traditional three-point play, and Hunter Barr's layup gave the Pioneers a 24–19 edge entering the final five minutes of the half. Reesor closed the period with a three-pointer to send Transylvania into halftime leading 34–26. Marshall pulled down 12 rebounds in the opening half, while Idlett led all scorers with 11 points.
Hanover opened the second half with an 8–3 run to trim the deficit, and the teams traded baskets through the first 10 minutes of the period. Transylvania maintained a 52–46 lead with 10 minutes remaining before Lancaster hit another timely three-pointer to stretch the advantage to nine. Idlett later connected from beyond the arc to push the lead to 62–51 entering the final five minutes. The Pioneers extended the margin to 12 with under two minutes to play and closed out the 73–60 win.
With the victory, Transylvania improves to 17–8 overall and 14–4 in HCAC play. Head Coach Brian Lane reached a career milestone of 400 wins in the victory
