LEXINGTON, KY-Transylvania took on Berea College in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) showdown at the Clive M. Beck Center, defeating the Mountaineers 73-49.

Transylvania had three players score in double figures with
Sierra Kemelgor leading the Pioneers with 18 points.
Makya Grinter posted a 11 points, four assists and three steal performance while
Grace Bruner posted 10 points and five rebounds.
Riley Flinn led the Pioneers in rebounds with eight on the evening.

Transylvania took the early 12-11 lead at the 5:00 minute mark. They would battle and exchange runs in the first quarter, but a late three-pointer from
Sierra Kemelgor would give Transylvania seven point advantage in the closing seconds of the quarter. Transylvania would pull away in the second quarter and increased their lead by 10 points with five minutes left in the first half.Â
Makya Grinter made big plays right before halftime as she forced a turnover and assisted to
Mackenzie Lombardi for a fast break layup.
Raegan Barrett made a three-pointer on another assist from Grinter to make the halftime score 44-28.

Transylvania and Berea battled to an even 8-8 scoring output in the third quarter, but the Pioneers would pull away in the fourth, outscoring the Mountaineers 21-10 in the final period.Â
Grace Bruner scored five points in the final two minutes of the game as Transylvania closed the win with a 73-49 final score. The Pioneers improve to 17-4 overall and 12-2 in the HCAC.Â
