LOUISVILLE, KY — Transylvania moved to 4–0 on the season with a 7–1 win over Spalding on Friday at Legacy Fields, using a three-run fifth inning and a strong complete-game performance from Raegan Gibson.
The Pioneers opened the scoring in the first when Ella Steczynski reached on an error, stole two bases, and scored on a stolen-base attempt that allowed Malana Hamm to advance. Avery Parsons followed with an RBI single to give Transylvania a 2–0 lead.
After holding the 2–1 advantage through four innings, Transylvania broke the game open in the fifth. Jessica Strickland drove in Taylor Ingram with a single, and Lexi Morlan followed with an RBI single of her own. Emilie Young added a run with an RBI single to center, extending the lead to 5–1. Morlan later delivered again in the sixth with an RBI double, scoring Ingram to make it 7–1.
Morlan finished with two hits, including a double and two RBI. Parsons added two hits with a triple, while Strickland, Steczynski, Young, Hamm, and Kailey Goetz added one hit each. Steczynski, Hamm, Ingram, and Morlan each stole a base.
In the circle, Gibson was dominant, throwing a complete game with nine strikeouts while allowing just four hits and one earned run.
The victory pushes Transylvania to 4–0 on the season.
