Pioneers Defeat Coe In Non-Conference Matchup

LOUISVILLE, KY — Transylvania stayed unbeaten at 3–0 with a 13–6 win over Coe on Friday at Legacy Fields, using a six-run third inning and a four-run sixth to pull away.

Coe briefly took a 3–2 lead in the top of the third, but Transylvania answered immediately with a seven-hit, six-run inning. Malana Hamm, Emilie Young, and Kailey Goetz each delivered hits in the rally, while Jessica Strickland, Lexi Morlan, and pitcher Maddie Goddard all drove in runs. Goddard's two-run infield single put the Pioneers ahead 6–3, and Ella Steczynski added an RBI single to extend the lead to 8–3.

Transylvania added another run in the fourth on a Strickland RBI single, then broke the game open in the sixth with four more runs. Strickland, Goetz, and Morlan all recorded hits in the frame, while Morlan and Steczynski provided RBI on a sacrifice fly and a defensive miscue. Taylor Ingram added a sacrifice fly to make it 12–6 before Steczynski's second sac fly pushed the lead to 13–6.

Strickland led the offense with a 4-for-4 performance, while Goetz and Avery Parsons each posted three hits. Raegan Gibson went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Steczynski, Hamm, and Goddard each drove in runs.

Goddard earned the win in her season debut, working 3.1 innings with three strikeouts. Trinity Bridges closed the final 3.2 innings, allowing just two hits and one earned run while striking out six.

Transylvania improves to 3–0 on the season.
