BRIDGEWATER, VA — Transylvania fell to Bridgewater 19–4 on Thursday afternoon at The Stadium.
Avery Kirkhope opened the scoring for the Pioneers midway through the first quarter on an assist from Sofie Garrett. Garrett later added a goal of her own, while Grace Bruner scored twice to lead Transylvania with two goals.
Bridgewater built a 5–3 lead after the opening quarter and extended the advantage to 11–3 by halftime. The Eagles continued to pull away in the second half, adding six goals in the third quarter and two more in the fourth.
Garrett finished with a goal and an assist, while Kirkhope added one goal and three ground balls. Ruby Himes recorded seven saves in goal for the Pioneers.
Transylvania finished with 12 shots and 18 ground balls, while Bridgewater held advantages in shots (31–12) and draw controls (18–7).
Transylvania returns to action on Wednesday, March 18th, hosting DePauw at Pat Deacon Stadium at 5:00 p.m.
