ELIZABETHTOWN, KY - Transylvania split day two of the Pioneer Classic in Elizabethtown.
Game One: Transylvania 3, Millikin 5
The Pioneers jumped out to an early lead with a three-run first inning. Raegan Gibson delivered a two-RBI single to score Malana Hamm and Avery Parsons before Kailey Goetz added an RBI single to extend the advantage to 3–0.
Millikin answered with two runs in the fourth inning to cut the deficit before taking the lead with three runs in the sixth inning.
Parsons led the Pioneers with two hits, while Hamm, Gibson and Goetz each added a hit. Gibson also drove in two runs in the contest.
Gibson started in the circle for Transylvania, allowing three runs over 5.1 innings with two strikeouts. Natalie Contreras and Olivia Colebank also saw time in relief.
Game Two: Transylvania 1, Adrian 0
The game remained scoreless through four innings before the Pioneers broke through in the fifth. Raegan Gibson reached base on an error and later scored when Makena Francis delivered an RBI single to right field to give Transylvania the lead.
The Pioneer pitching staff held Adrian in check the rest of the way. Trinity Bridges earned the win, tossing 4.1 scoreless innings with four strikeouts. Maddie Goddard closed the game with 2.2 innings of relief, striking out three to secure the shutout.
Ella Steczynski, Emily Shearer and Francis each recorded a hit for Transylvania.
Transylvania returns to action on the final day of the Pioneer Classic on Sunday, taking on Maryville at 11:00 and DePauw at 1:15.
