LEXINGTON, KY — To kick off the outdoor track season, the Pioneers hosted strong competition at their home track while also honoring their seniors for their contributions to the program.

Despite blistering heat, the meet served as a strong start to the season with several standout performances across the board. Highlights included:

  • Senior Kaycee Moore narrowly missed her personal best and the school record in the 1500m, running a time of 4:56.63.
  • Trevor Bush had an impressive outdoor season debut, running 11.18 in the 100m and 22.68 in the 200m. His 200m time was nearly a full second faster than his indoor personal best and ranks him third in Transylvania history in both the 100m and 200m.
  • Jatajza Pinkney recorded a personal best in the 200m with a time of 26.73, winning her heat.
  • Senior Markieus Hill posted a mark of 13.49m in the triple jump, earning runner-up honors and recording a season best.
  • Senior George Thacker delivered a strong performance in the 1500m, lowering his personal best by over 30 seconds with a time of 4:49.04.

Following the meet, head coach Matt Andrews reflected on the team's performance and outlook.

"The Pio Invite is always a great way to get our outdoor season rolling. This year's meet was a good starting point for our squad, with a fair amount of quality performances and plenty of takeaways we can build on in the coming weeks."

Transylvania will return to action next week in Louisville, Kentucky, competing at the Jim Vargo Invitational on Saturday, March 28.
