LEXINGTON, KY - Transylvania swept Asbury in a double header on Thursday in their first appearance at John and Donna Hall Field in the 2026 season. They opened the evening with a 10-2 win in game one.Â
The Pioneers jumped out early with two runs in the first inning behind an RBI triple from Ella Steczynski and an RBI double from Kailey Goetz. Transylvania added another run in the second on an RBI single from Malana Hamm.
After Asbury cut the deficit to 3–2 in the third, the Pioneers broke the game open with a five-run fourth inning. Maddie Goddard highlighted the inning with a two-run home run, while Jessica Strickland added an RBI double and Goetz drove in a run. Transylvania added insurance runs in the fifth and sixth innings to seal the victory.
Steczynski led the offense with three hits and three runs scored, while Emily Shearer recorded three hits and two runs scored. Goddard finished with two hits and three RBI, and Hamm added two hits and an RBI.
In the circle, Raegan Gibson earned the win, allowing two runs over 2.2 innings. Maddie Goddard recorded the save with 3.1 scoreless innings of relief.
Transylvania completed the doubleheader sweep with an 8–2 win in the second game. After a scoreless first inning, the Pioneers opened the scoring in the second on an RBI single from Taylor Ingram. Transylvania broke the game open in the third inning, scoring four runs highlighted by a three-RBI single from Makena Francis. Asbury scored twice in the fourth inning, but Transylvania added three insurance runs in the sixth. Emily Shearer delivered a two-RBI single and Anna Russelburg added an RBI double to extend the lead to 8–2. Shearer led the offense with three hits and three RBI, while Ella Steczynski added two hits. Francis drove in three runs, and Ingram finished with two hits and an RBI.
In the circle, Trinity Bridges earned the win, allowing one run over 3.1 innings with five strikeouts. Maddie Goddard added 2.2 innings of relief, while Natalie Contreras and Olivia Colebank closed out the game.
Transylvania improves to 15–4 on the season.
